GAS CANISTER COZY

With winter just around the corner, it was time to start thinking about my upcoming trips and what I needed. I had wanted to make a cozy for my gas canister this year in hopes of helping with the efficiency of my stove. I looked around for a bit, but no one made one. So guess what I did...I made my own and the best part about it is that it weighs nothing! I knew that I was going to use some of the PG Sheet material and after some research online I found that plastazote can be heated and formed. Lucky for me I have a small vacuum forming machine so I loaded it with a piece of plastazote, heated it, and vacuum formed it around a gas canister. There was some wrinkling when I tried to draw it over the entire canister so I decided to place a slit halfway down. This would give me a top and bottom to fit over my canister. In the end, this made it easier to get it on and off and the fit is perfect.

Description: A 2 piece insulation wrap for a standard 8 oz gas canister. Made by vacuum forming a piece of 1/8" plastazote over top of the canister.

Weight: 0 oz (0 grams).

Notes: Keeping your canister warm in freezing temperatures is very important for stove performance and efficiency. As the temperature drops and your canister gets colder, you will notice a drop in performance until eventually, if it gets cold enough, it will stop working all together. The GCC is designed to increase the efficiency of the stove by minimizing the amount of heat loss from the canister. If you haven't experienced this phenomenon then you haven't been camping with cold enough temperatures!
