I originally purchased the 72" Thermarest Neoair at the beginning of this summer. I used it on my Coastal Trail hike and it performed great. But, there was always one thing that bothered me - THE WEIGHT! At 14.4 oz, I just couldn't stop thinking about the shorter version. I was eventually going to buy the 48" Neoair, but thought, wait a minute, I want one even shorter. So, I drank a few beers, used the force (Thank you Jesse!) and cut my Neoair in half. There was some experimenting with the scrap to make sure I could reseal it. In the end, I ended up using a standard household iron to heat seal the seam. So far, it has held up well and I don't see it failing anytime soon. It seems to be as strong as the factory bond but time will tell.

Description: Modified Thermarest Neoair. Total inflated length is 32". I resealed the modified edge using a household iron. The packed size is roughly the diameter of a popcan and the height is about 1.5 times the height of a popcan. No leaks so far!

Weight: 6.7 oz (191 grams).

Notes: I actually measured and cut the Neoair at about 36" in length. Once inflated, it measured 32". Keep this in mind when performing this modification yourself.
